Overview

In this module, farmers will learn the basic measurements and calculations required to get started with adaptive grazing. In adaptive grazing, cattle move frequently to new, temporary paddocks. Each paddock is sized to control the amount of forage dry matter cattle consume. To use adaptive grazing, cattle producers need to be able to estimate their herds’ dry matter intake needs and assess forage availability using simple techniques in the field. The module concludes with practical steps and recommendations for getting started with adaptive grazing.
