Overview

Water is critical for livestock health. Cattle need easy access to ample clean water, and sufficient clean water contributes to solid weight gain. Water also contains minerals and dissolved solids that can benefit cattle health if maintained within certain ranges.1

Water requirements are influenced by a range of factors, including feed intake, forage composition, ambient temperature, gestation and lactation, and activity level. Different breeds of cattle have different water needs and function better in different environments. Manage water resources according to the needs of your herd.
