This event is fundraising for the Deep Roots Farm Foundation. Our foundation will be a comprehensive training program for new farmers in the DMV. We are passionate about food security, minimizing the distance your food travels, and reducing the adverse environmental affects of food transportation and green house gas emissions.
The program would be a 3 year program where future farmers can gain hands on agricultural experience and business management. Our future farmers will live on the Deep Roots Farm and be paid a living wage while in residence. They can learn from experience how to sustainably run and maintain their farm and business, and that is what sets our program apart from other farmer training programs.

Menu
Dinner: Vegetables and chicken cooked over a fire and delicious beer from Right Proper Brewing!
Desert: Lemon almond cake with black raspberry sauce and Plum cake with whip cream
Come out and support a local farmer and see what goes into the food you eat. Guests are invited to ask questions about farming, the Deep Roots Farm, food production, and more!”

About Deep Roots Farm:

Deep Roots Farm is a regenerative ”O”, women owned and operated farm located in Brandywine and Upper Marlboro, MD.  We grow vegetables, herbs, fruit, and flowers, and raise chickens on 50 acres for our community.

Regenerative “O” describes a holistic approach to farming that encourages continuous innovation and improvement of environmental, social, and economic measures.

“The number one priority in regenerative ”O” agriculture is soil health.  Soil health is intrinsically linked to the total health of our food system. Soil health affects everything from plant health to human well being and the future of our planet.  Regenerative prioritizes soil health while simultaneously encompassing high standards for animal welfare and worker fairness. The idea is to create farm systems that work in harmony with nature to improve the quality of life for every creature involved”

  What’s to Come

We have big plans for the future of the farm! We plan to incorporate turkeys and ducks for Thanksgiving, hogs and cows into our CSA, and an orchard growing berries, figs, apples, plums, and peaches.

Currently, we are raising money for a pole barn washing station as one of the first structures for the farm. If you would like to contribute please visit and share our fundraiser below!”
