Are you looking for ways to minimize risks on your farm? Are you looking to
understand what wholesale buyers are looking for from your farm? Do you
want to improve your packshed efficiency and the shelf life of your
harvests?
All of these questions and more can be answered when you attend the
exciting and informative series of workshops we are hosting on how to get
your produce from the farm to the wholesalers while minimizing food safety
risks.
Our mission is to help improve the quality and safety of your produce from
soil to sale! This work is made possible by a grant from USDA NIFA Food
Safety Outreach Project.
1. June 1st 4 pm – 6 pm EST – A webinar exploring harvesting, packing, grading,
and packaging techniques to meet industry standards for quality and
shelf-life, and to understand the processes affecting product quality.

2. June 7th 10 am – 1 pm EST – An on-farm experiential workshop where you will
work on learning to put post-harvest handling theory into practice on the
farm. This will be held at Deep Roots Farm in
southern Maryland. Experienced trainer, Trish Tripp, of Artisan Food
Solutions <http://www.artisanfoodsolutions.com/> will lead participants in
an exploration of all things post-harvest. A post-harvest handling and
food safety expert, Tripp has helped more than 200 growers add value to
their farms, through similar workshops and individualized technical
assistance.

3. June 27th 12 pm – 1:30 pm EST – A produce Buyers Panel where you will learn
from a panel of wholesalers and distributors about what they are looking
for from their farmers in terms of quality and food safety. We will have
panelists from 4P Foods, Common Market, Sweet Green and Wegmans! Come
prepared with your burning questions for these industry leaders.
