SUMMARY:Marbleseed 2024 Farmer Self Organizing Training
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, January 30\, 2024 |  9:30 AM CST – 3:30 PM CST |  Free\nFarmers Rising – Lodge (formerly Angelic Organics Learning Center)\, 1936 Rockton Road\, Caledonia\, IL\nThis day-long training will highlight the process of designing educational environments for adult learners. Based on popular education with its focus on dialogue and inclusivity versus presentation of information\, this will be a day of interaction\, practice\, and reflection. Together we will explore building communities of practice and facilitating learner-driven content based on two methods that will be utilized at the Marbleseed Organic Farming conference. These methods are also meant to be facilitation tools for anyone doing farmer and community education. \nAgenda: \n\nAndragogy: What does the theory say?\nPopular Education and Education for Action\nCentering Learners: Knowledge Café and Facilitated Conversations\nCentering Learners: Spontaneous Content with Open Space and “Unconference”\n“To know a thing does not mean you do a thing”; What about measuring outcomes with these methods?\n\nAbout your facilitator: \nLori Stern\, MA Ed is the current Executive Director at Marbleseed. She received her master’s degree in adult education with a focus on professional development and program design. Lori has published curricula and developed training for teachers on interactive learning methods and popular education. \nJustine Bursoni\, MA Ed is the Farmer Education Manager at Marbleseed. She holds a master’s in art education with a focus on English as a Second Language. Her focus as an educator is working outside of the traditional setting where she collaborates with communities to build a bridge between disciplines with a holistic approach. \nAdditional information: \nSupport stipends are available for farmer attendees. Contact info@marbleseed.org for more information. \nMarbleseed is offering scholarships for our annual conference to 14 attendees\, so they can further their knowledge and skills at the 2023 Organic Farming Conference Convergence! \nLight breakfast\, breaks\, and hot lunch provided with registration. If you have any dietary restrictions we should know about\, contact us using the information below. \nIf you will need overnight lodging\, email info@marbleseed.org or call 715-778-5775 x701 for information regarding a hotel block.

SUMMARY:Essentials of Regenerative Ranching - New Braunfels\, Texas
DESCRIPTION:Healthy soil means healthy grass and healthy livestock. More diverse soil life helps grass capture more sunshine\, rainfall and nutrients. That means more grass per acre\, higher cattle stocking rates and lower supplemental feed costs.\n\nWith our essential training series\, designed specifically for regenerative ranchers\, you’ll discover how to build soil health for enhanced water infiltration and holding capacity\, making your land resilient to droughts and floods.\n\nBy implementing regenerative soil health principles on your ranch\, you can:\n\n• Reverse land degradation and grow more nutritious forage by rebuilding healthy soil biology.\n• Boost ranch productivity with increased forage per acre and higher cattle stocking rates on vibrant\, living pastures.\n• Save money on supplemental feeds through enhanced forage quality and abundance.\n• Improve herd health by grazing cattle on diverse forages from fertile soils.\n• Build drought resilience and mitigate flooding risk through improved water infiltration and holding capacity.\n• Develop regenerative soil health skills with our training program designed specifically for ranchers.\n• Enhance ranch profitability now and for future generations by regenerating optimal soil function.\n• Pass down productive ranch land that continues building health and performance over time.\n\nMore info: https://www.noble.org/essentials-of-regenerative-ranching/
