DESCRIPTION:As the planetary unraveling and transformation deepens\, we find ourselves on a collective quest to create a more thriving and just world. Many of us have become change-makes\, who challenge the status quo with life-affirming innovations. In this online session we learn together how to weave our initiatives\, align action and create systems change. \n“Weaving”is the practice that allows diverse collaborators to build relationships and align towards a shared purpose. It is an ancient practice that many indigenous cultures have embodied. In our modern world\, we need a type of weaving that can bring together diverse social movements to catalyze systems change. \nIn this online session we will therefore dive into indigenous and modern perspectives on weaving social movements. Different organic and conventional management practices will promote or degrade soil health\, which can affect downstream water quality. DESCRIPTION:Quoted from the Farm Alliance Eventbrite Page: \n“Join the Farm Alliance of Baltimore’s Black Butterfly Urban Farmer Academy for an on farm field day! \n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nDid you know there is fruit growing all over Baltimore City? At this field day we will visit one city orchard\, The Edible Food Forest\, which includes plantings of Asian persimmons\, Asian and European pears\, apples and figs. Ted Martello\, an orchard steward with Baltimore Orchard Project will give us a tour of the site and will provide an overview of best practices for orchard planting\, care and management. \nAttendees will also learn about wild harvesting and have the opportunity to harvest and taste wild mulberries from the park! More info about Mulberry Harvesting can be found at the bottom of this webpage. \nThis is an in-person workshop. Pre registration is required so we can plan accordingly. We suggest that attendees wear closed-toed shoes and clothes you won’t mind getting dirty. Be sure to bring a water bottle! Ted is a certified arborist and agent of change within Baltimore’s bustling tree planting and community forestry movement. Employed by the City’s Forestry department to care for public trees in parks and on streets\, he also handles a spring and fall community tree order and runs the City tree nursery in Druid Hill Park.
