Nazirahk has over 20 years of growing experience and he will share his expertise on tools for small scale farms\, efficiency and will speak to the importance of maintaining one of the important tools we have – our bodies. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the Purple Mountain Organics Farm and try out some of the specialized tools! \nPurple Mountain Organics is a small-scale custom farming operation promoting regenerative agricultural practices and quality tools. It is an extension of the work of Nazirahk Amen and Wisdom Path Healing Center. Food is medicine! Our goal for many years has been to grow as much of the food we eat as possible and to help others do the same. \nThis is an in-person workshop. Pre registration is required so we can plan accordingly. We suggest that attendees wear weather appropriate attire\, and closed-toed shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. DESCRIPTION:Please join REGAIN on Thursday\, July 21st at 11 AM PST/ 12 PM MST/ 2 PM EST/ 20h CEST for a virtual discussion with Anita (she/they)\, the founder of the Not Our Farm project\, about their work in food sovereignty and advocating for farmworkers through farmworker storytelling! The event will be moderated by Jahia (she/her)\, a farmer\, activist\, and REGAIN Network Weaver! \nRegister using the Zoom link\, and find out more about Not Our Farm or REGAIN by clicking any of the underlined text here or in the flyer! All attendees will receive a free farmworker zine focused on QBIPOC farmworkers! \nWe are in the process of securing simultaneous English-to-Spanish language interpretation and hope to offer this during the event. This event is geared towards Queer and BIPOC farmworkers & food systems activists\, but all are welcome to attend. \nAbout Anita: Anita is in her 12th season farming. She has worked on both non-profit and production farms in Pennsylvania\, Virginia\, California\, Washington\, D.C.\, and New Mexico. Before farming\, she trained and worked as a social worker in New York City. She is deeply committed to increasing food access for all people\, as well as community building\, financial security and safety for farmworkers\, and empowerment through food production and food sovereignty. She is the founder of the Not Our Farm Project and is a co-farmer at Ashokra Farm\, a queer poc farming collective in Albuquerque. \n\nAbout Not Our Farm: Not Our Farm is a not for profit farm worker visibility and advocacy project. We are storytellers and work to uplift the journeys of farmers working on farms not their own\, all while reimagining a safe and joyful worker-centered farming future where we all can thrive.\n\nAbout REGAIN: REGAIN (The Regenerative Agriculture Idea Network) is an online community of practice designed for all regenerative agriculture educators\, advocates\, and practitioners.
