Description: This paper explores the current state of cattle grazing for beef and, to a lesser extent, dairy production in Illinois resulting in grass-fed and grass-finished products that serve markets in and beyond the state. It is a qualitative study utilizing standardized, open-ended interviews with stakeholders directly and indirectly connected with the topic area in Illinois. Findings are summarized by themes identified, named, and categorized by the authors. A discussion on the findings, as well as the limitations of this study and future areas of study, are also included.
