Marbleseed 2024 Farmer Self Organizing Training
January 30 @ 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM CST
Event Navigation
This day-long training will highlight the process of designing educational environments for adult learners. Based on popular education with its focus on dialogue and inclusivity versus presentation of information, this will be a day of interaction, practice, and reflection. Together we will explore building communities of practice and facilitating learner-driven content based on two methods that will be utilized at the Marbleseed Organic Farming conference. These methods are also meant to be facilitation tools for anyone doing farmer and community education.
Agenda:
- Andragogy: What does the theory say?
- Popular Education and Education for Action
- Centering Learners: Knowledge Café and Facilitated Conversations
- Centering Learners: Spontaneous Content with Open Space and “Unconference”
- “To know a thing does not mean you do a thing”; What about measuring outcomes with these methods?
