Indigenous and Traditional Soil Health Practices
March 31, 2021 @ 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM CDT
Join us for an exciting conversation with four leaders in indigenous and traditional agriculture. Felicia Bell, NCAT Agriculture Specialist, will be hosting a conversation with Mrs. Earcine Evans, founder and owner of Francis Flowers & Herbs Farm, a biodynamic, organic farm in Mississippi; Twila Cassadore of the San Carlos Apache Tribe and the Traditional Western Apache Diet Project; Kelsey Ducheneaux-Scott of the Intertribal Agriculture Council and DX Beef; and Milagro Berhane, Senior Research Associate with Southern University, and founder and co-owner of Greenhand Nursery.
Sustainable, regenerative agricultural practices are not a new concept. The speakers in this discussion will explore the ways indigenous, traditional cultures have been regenerating the land for centuries. These practices can play an important role in today’s agricultural system. Working together and learning from each other, all land stewards can regenerate soil health in the U.S. and around the world.
